WICKET GATES.
Wickets like that shown in Fig. 1275 are used for entrance courts and gardens. The back stile and the head should be made of oak, the rails, brace, and pales of deal. To frame this wicket, all the rails should be mortised through the stiles with a bareface tenon, and pinned. Wedging is of no use for this kind of work. The brace (which should never be omitted) should be mortised and pinned into the back stile and the under side of the top rail, as shown at Fig. 1276 and Fig. 1252, p. 370.
